Weight Loss Medication – The Details

Mounjaro (tirzepatide), Wegovy and Ozempic (semaglutide) are medications used to assist with weight loss. Originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes, they have been found effective in reducing appetite and promoting weight loss.

GLP-1, or glucagon-like peptide-1, is a hormone that plays a crucial role in regulating appetite and blood sugar levels.

Semaglutide acts as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which increases the feelings of fullness and reduces appetite. This helps individuals eat less and lose weight over time.

Like Semaglutide, Tirzepatide works by mimicking the action of GIP and GLP-1, hormones that help regulate blood sugar levels.

It enhances insulin secretion, reduces glucagon secretion, slows gastric emptying, and promotes a feeling of fullness, which helps control blood glucose levels and can also lead to weight loss.

Both medications act on hormones that regulate appetite. Ozempic is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, while Mounjaro is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist. They help reduce food intake and increase feelings of fullness.

These medications are typically prescribed to individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or those with a BMI of 27 or higher who have related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol.

Like all medicines, there are side effects to be aware of. Not everyone experiences the side effects, but weight loss treatments can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These side effects generally subside as your body adjusts to the medication.  It is important to read all patient information that is supplied with your treatment.

Some people may experience more serious side effects like pancreatitis or allergic reactions. It’s important to discuss potential side effects with a medical expert.

They are generally administered via a once-weekly injection. Your healthcare provider will demonstrate how to properly use the injection device.

Many people begin to see weight loss results within the first few weeks of treatment, but significant weight loss may take several months. Consistency with the medication and lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise enhance results.

It’s crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before combining weight loss pens with other weight loss treatments to avoid potential interactions and side effects.

While there are no specific dietary restrictions, you should consult your healthcare provider in case you have any specific individual restrictions. You should adopt a healthy diet and regular exercise routine to help maximize the benefits of weight loss treatments.

The online assessment and follow up healthcare expert will evaluate your medical history, current health conditions, and weight loss goals to determine if the weight loss treatment is a suitable treatment option for you.

You will be given clear instructions for how and where you should inject the medication. The dosage will be advised after completing the assessment form.

BMI, or Body Mass Index, is a numerical value derived from an individual’s weight and height. It provides a general indication of whether a person has a healthy body weight for a given height.

Pricing and Dosage and the Wellbeing Questionnaire

You can take advantage of joining our subscription program (which you can cancel at any-time), by joining you will receive a significant welcome bonus for joining the platform on month one. The price of the medication in month two will revert to the standard price (excluding the initial welcome bonus).

Pricing for the medication increases with dosage in tiers of pairs. For example in the case of our most popular medication. Your starting dose is 2.5mg and then most people escalate in month two to 5mg. The price of 2.5mg and 5mg is £205 (although you would receive the welcome bonus in month 1). The price for 7.5mg and 10mg is £225 and 12.5mg and 15mg is £245.

Your subscription would automatically take payment on day 28 from your prescription date (not initial payment date) and subject to receiving your well being questionnaire, sent on day 21, your medication will be dispatched within 48 hours of your payment. (Weekend Depending)

If you wanted to forward pay for a 3-month, 6-month, 12 month subscription – you can take further advantage of the discount savings as the average cost of the medication works out cheaper than monthly subscriptions as it factors within the price escalating in dose which most patients do.

When you join as a first-time customer on a rolling one-month subscription programme, you will have received a welcome bonus of £76 on your initial payment. Subsequent monthly payments will revert to the base price of the medication excluding the initial welcome bonus.

Your application, images and ID check will be reviewed by our healthcare team to ensure you meet the criteria to take the weight loss medication. If successful, you will receive an email containing further information and your weight loss medication will be dispensed.

In some cases, our healthcare team may need more information, or new images to the ones you have provided before dispensing your medication. You will receive further details by email.

In a case of your application getting rejected, you will receive an email confirming the reason why and your refund will arrive in 7-10 working days as per the terms stipulated by our payment gateway called Stripe.

The dose escalation is dependent on the type of medication taken, and only upon completion of the wellbeing questionnaire, which will be shared via email, 21 days after your prescription starts. Your responses will help our healthcare team to give you tailored support and decide which dose you can increase to.

During the questionnaire, you can request to increase your next prescription, which will be reviewed by the prescribing nurse. You will have access to resources and support to help you make the decision.

Please note there are increased charges for higher doses of the weight loss treatments, due to the higher amount of medication in the pen.

If you are on a rolling monthly subscription, you will receive the wellbeing questionnaire on day 21 from your prescription date. Upon completion and payment, your next pen will be dispensed and shipped to you.

If on a 3, 6 or 12-month subscription, you will still need to complete the monthly check-in before the next pen is sent out to you. Payment will be automatically taken on day 28 with the original card details provided.

Please note that even if you have paid in full upfront, the pens will arrive individually after completion of the wellbeing questionnaire. This is so the prescribed nurse can review and increase the dosage if necessary.

You will need to reapply online using the online self-assessment, and evidence your previous prescription taken so the healthcare team can determine which dosage is suitable. If you see yourself continuing the course for several months, we would suggest joining the subscription program to take advantage of time savings for renewal and price discounts.

Even if you have paid for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription upfront, the pens will arrive individually at monthly intervals after completion of the wellbeing questionnaire – this is to ensure you are taking the correct dosage and allows for the prescribing nurse to increase if necessary.

The wellbeing questionnaire is sent on day 21 after your prescription, so your next monthly pen will arrive on time for an uninterrupted supply.

Your health is our priority, so every customer is sent a short wellbeing questionnaire each month by email (21 days after your prescribed start date) – a self-directed check-in to gather vital insights. Our healthcare team use this information to ensure that you are receiving the correct support and dosage.

Upon review, the dosage of your weight loss medication can be increased and dispensed in time for your next required dose schedule.

If you haven’t received the questionnaire, you can fill it out here.
