The Iron Status blood test is ideal for anybody wishing to identify their iron levels, particularly if you feel you may be deficient due to lifestyle or diet.
If you feel tired, lethargic or washed out, or experiencing heart palpitations or shortness of breath it may be the case that you are suffering from iron deficiency which can lead to anaemia. Iron deficiency can also be caused by heavy periods.
You can help improve your iron levels through diet, including eating more dark green, leafy vegetables such as spinach and curly kale, cereals, dried fruit and pulses - whilst avoiding tea and coffee, dairy products or foods with high levels of phytic acid which limits iron absorption.

Iron is used in the body to create new blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body.
Low levels of iron can lead to fatigue and reduced energy levels, along with pale skin, weak hair and nails and chest pain or heart flutters.
Too much iron can lead to iron-overload, or hemochromatosis, which can also lead to fatigue and chest pains, as well as joint pain, stomach pain and unexplained weight loss.
We will check your iron levels and your body’s ability to efficiently transport iron via your blood.
