Why take this test?

To check for the presence of Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori) bacteria in your stomach, which if left untreated can cause stomach cancer. Many people don't realize they have an H. pylori infection because they never get sick from it.

What is H. Pylori?

Helicobacter Pylori (H. pylori), a common type of bacteria that is contagious and can be passed from person to person through direct contact of saliva, vomit or stool. It can also be passed through contaminated food or water. The bacteria enters your stomach and attacks the lining, causing painful peptic ulcers.

Symptoms of H. pylori:

If you have severe ongoing stomach pain, bloody or black tarry stools or vomit – you should visit a doctor right away. Symptoms from an infection include: • An ache or burning pain in your stomach (abdomen) • Stomach pain that get be worse even when you haven't eaten anything, or your stomach is empty. • Feeling of nausea • Loss of appetite • Frequent burping or bloating in the stomach • Unexplained weight loss

How does the test work?

The simple blood test measures antibodies to H. pylori.  Antibodies are proteins made by your body's immune system, which occur when it detects the presence of harmful  bacteria to help fight off the illness. A presence of antibodies to H. pylori means you either are currently infected or have been infected in the past. The test cannot tell how long you have had the infection for.

How to prepare:

In general, there's nothing you have to do before the H. pylori blood test, unless otherwise stated by a doctor.

  The device is water resistant, so you can continue with your daily routine – including showering and exercising while wearing it. The device cannot be submerged entirely in water.  

What do the reports tell you?

While your symptoms show a piece of the puzzle, our reports reveal the complete picture. It identifies irregular heart rhythms associated with bradycardia, tachycardias, and atrial fibrillation (AFib), a leading cause of stroke.  

How do I choose the duration of the device?

How long you wear the device depends on how often you have symptoms. Daily or Multiple Daily Symptoms: If you experience symptoms multiple times a day or nearly every day, a 24-hour (1-day) recording is usually sufficient. Several Times a Week Symptoms: If you experience symptoms several times a week but not daily, a 48-hour (2-day) recording is recommended. Occasional Symptoms: If you experience symptoms only a few times a month or less, a 7-day recording will provide the most complete data. Remember: These serve as guidelines. If you're not sure, consult with us on which option is best for your symptoms.

How do I fit the device?
Step 1: Switch on the device by pressing and releasing the centre button. Step 2: Connect the device to the adapter. Ensure the device is connected securely. Step 3: Attach the device adapter to the electrode. For more information, download the user guide.
How do I prepare before fitting the device?
Step 1: Remove hair from the area where the device will be placed. Step 2: Clean your skin with soap and water. Do not use alcohol wipes, especially on sensitive skin. Step 3: Dry your skin thoroughly. For more information, download the user guide.
Can I exercise/ shower?
Yes. The device is water resistant, which allows you to exercise and take a shower while wearing it. The device may not be submerged in water.
Are there any restrictions while wearing a Holter ECG Recording device?
The device cannot be worn when undergoing an MRI. Remove the device, adapter, and the electrode.
Do I keep the Holter device?
No. The Holter device and its adapter remain the property of Goodbody. It is provided for temporary use to record your heart rhythm, and it must be returned to us in its original packaging for data verification. We will provide the returns bag for free, so you will incur no extra postage costs sending it back. Simply package up the device after your monitoring period has finished and drop it at a postage point.
When will the data be verified?
As soon as you return the device to us in its original packaging, our Cardiac Physiologists can verify the data and compile a heart health report.
How will I get my report?
Once the recorded data has been verified by a Cardiac Physiologist, results are compiled into a comprehensive report and will be sent to you via email.
How quickly will I receive my device after placing the order?
We aim to deliver your ordered device within 5-7 business days. Please note that lead times may be influenced by variables beyond our control.
What is a normal heart rate?
A normal heart rate for adults is usually between 60 and 100 beats per minute. This may vary depending on age, fitness level, and general health.
What happens if I receive abnormal results?
If your report indicates any potential heart rhythm irregularities, it's important to understand that the report itself is not a diagnosis. It's designed to provide your doctor with valuable information to help them assess your heart health. We strongly recommend consulting with a medical professional to discuss your results and receive personalised guidance. What will the NAD Blood Test tell me?

What is cortisol?

Cortisol is a natural hormone. It’s your body’s main stress hormone which is made by your adrenal glands – organs at the top of your kidneys. Having the right balance of cortisol is essential for your health and wellbeing. An abnormal cortisol level might indicate the presence of an adrenal gland disorder or other underlying health problems, which are harmful if left untreated. Too much cortisol can cause “Crushing syndrome”, symptoms of rapid weight gain, easily bruised skin, muscle weakness, diabetes and much more. Too Little Cortisol can cause “Addisons disease”, which leads to changes of your skin, tiredness, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, low blood pressure and much more.

How does the test work?

The simple blood test checks whether your cortisol levels are within the normal range. The normal range for Cortisol is 160 – 600 nmol/L.

How to prepare:

** Take your test around 9am in the morning *** This is when your Cortisol level will be at your nocturnal peak.
  • Avoid exercise before you take your test - Physical exercise temporarily increases the levels of cortisol in your blood.
  • Biotin supplements can affect results. Do not take them for two days before the test. Discuss this with your doctor if you have prescribed biotin supplements.
  • Hormonal contraception can affect the results, so it’s recommended you take a break and use an alternative barrier contraception to get more accurate results. Speak to your GP if you want more information.

What do the results tell you?

Your doctor will receive a personalised EpiSwitch® PSE report informing you if you have a ‘low likelihood’ or ‘high likelihood’ of prostate cancer.
  • A 'low likelihood' PSE result can offer peace of mind and reduce unnecessary biopsies and over-treatment. This result is consistent with the absence of cancer in more than 9 out of 10 men.
  • A 'high likelihood' PSE result can help your doctor immediately refer you to the right next step. This result is consistent with cancer being confirmed in more than 9 out of 10 men.
